I love a good capsule wardrobe for so many reasons but mainly because it makes getting dressed in the morning an attainable goal! This season, I wouldn’t say I’m sticking to a true capsule wardrobe but I am sticking to a few staples that will be in rotation. Thanks to our potential for an Indian Summer, my fall clothes are more inspired by colors than by sweaters and boots. I find that fall is a transition season for so many (like my fellow Southern Californians and Texans) that it makes sense to make small shifts in your wardrobe versus buying a ton of wool coats, sweaters and booties!

Here’s what I’ll be rotating often through out this transitional season!

FALL CAPSULE

Floral Dress – I’ve been drawn to floral prints in fall hues so I scooped up this dress as soon as it hit the website because I knew it would sell out. What I love about dresses in the fall are the ever changing ways to wear it. Toss a sweater over for a cool evening by the fire. Wear with tennis shoes for a day apple picking or to the pumpkin patch. Throw on your favorite heels to dress it up for date night or keep it simple with some neutral sandals. Here’s a few other favorites for fall.

White Pants – Yep, I’m that girl who wears white year round. I don’t pay much attention to fashion rules and typically march to the beat of my own drum, especially when it comes to wearing white year round! These pants are a favorite and recently restocked. They have a 70’s vibe to them that just begs to be paired with a tank top and cardigan for fall.

Plaid blouse – nothing says fall like trickling in some plaid into your wardrobe. Opt for a looser and lighter weight top for those warmer days when you really want to dress for fall.

A good pair of jeans – I got these recently on sale and love them. The highwaist is perfect and the demi-flare is great for now with sandals or mules and later with boots!

Casual black mini– Is there anything better than a casual mini dress on a warm fall day. It’s a little bit of summer mixed with the hues of fall. I was drawn to the cowboy vibes of this dress and knew it would be a staple for fall… plus, the pricepoint was perfect!

Button front maxi – there is something so effortlessly stylish about a button front… whether it’s a shirt or a maxi dress, it’s just so easy going. I love the maxi front version as we shift seasons because it feels summer like but has enough coverage for a sunny and cool fall day.

As much as a big part of me is ready to dust off my sweaters, the silver lining of mild seasons means my wardrobe is truly year round, even my capsule staples! I’m loving wearing and styling all of these staple pieces from summer to fall and even into winter. I’m just glad I’m just a short drive to the mountains for that true season feel!

Fall is a transitional season because here in NC it is still pretty warm. Which is upsetting because I’ve bought lots of sweaters! Lol. I like your picks to slowly transition!
