It’s hard to believe the babes are 2! I know it’s so cliche to say but how in the world did that happen? Birthdays around here are and will always be a big deal. It’s a celebration of another year of life and memories made. My mom always did such an amazing job at making me feel special on my birthday and I can’t wait to pass that on as the babes get older. This year I gave my best attempt at a toned down toddler birthday party and came to the conclusion that it’s just not my style. I settled on the theme months ago and then it all fell into place!
We hosted a little fiesta in the theme of ‘Let’s taco ’bout turning 2′. Birthday decorations can be costly, especially when you’re using it for one day, so I tried to reuse what I already had from our annual Cinco De Mayo party and the babes last birthday party. I could’t resist purchasing a few little touches from a local gift shop, Artelexia, along with Ev’s adorable dress! And can we talk about how adorable Easton’s shirt was! I was too busy to snap many pictures but here’s what it looks like otherwise, thanks to Cruz and Co for the adorable design and quick turnaround!
We saved ourselves the trouble of cooking and catered the party from Lolita’s Taco shop, a local San Diego favorite and had the cookie favors made by Lizzy of Sprinkle Fairy (she did our cookies last year too, they’re so amazing). We also did mini churros from Trader Joes rather than birthday cake and they were a big hit!
I picked up a few fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s and some cans of El Pato Green Enchilada Sauce. I emptied out the sauce, cleaned out the cans and filled them with flowers, such an easy way to add a touch of Mexico onto your table setting or party display.
My favorite part of the party was the Piñata! Sadly, I didn’t snap any pictures of the fun but we ordered this piñata that has pull strings to open it rather than hitting it and it was perfect for toddlers. I filled it with lollipops, gummy bears, bubbles and tiny dinosaurs and all the kiddos absolutely loved it!
