This past weekend, a few of my mama friends and I road tripped to Palm Springs. We stayed at a quintessential mid century modern Palm Springs style home and did a few of the “touristy” musts. Even though it’s just a little over 2 hours away from San Diego, the vibe of the city feels like you’ve traveled back in time. The perfect weekend getaway!
With R being away for an entire month, I was feeling really rundown and overloaded. There were days that I felt like I either needed a large margarita and a nap or I was going to snap… I was longing for a few minutes away, just a moment to catch my breath and not be responsible for human lives. I jumped at the chance to book this weekend away and actually agreed to going before even talking to R about it.
This was only the second time I had ever left the babes and while yes, maybe it was a tad hard and I missed our night time snuggles before bed, it was also such a breath of fresh air. I think as moms, it’s so easy to get completely consumed in your child and forget that you are a person too. I know I have a habit of doing that so this weekend was a great reminder for me that I am mom but I’m also Brandi. I came back so refreshed and rejuvenated! It was just what this tired mama needed!
Here’s a little recap of the trip, and what I packed to get me through the weekend!
Stay – We stayed at a darling Mid Century Modern vacation home called The Lux Palm Springs. The pool was fabulous and the home’s decor was on point! I loved all the MCM details and architecture!
Hike – We woke up early the first morning we were there to catch the first ride up at the Palm Springs Aireal Tramway and hike around! It was so beautiful and I’m glad we did it. We hiked the lookout trail that was just a little under 2 miles so we could be back in time to enjoy the pool!
Eat – We headed to Norma’s at The Parker for breakfast on Sunday. It was a tad pricey but the hotel was adorable and the food was pretty great! Worth it in my opinion!
See – I drug the girls on a little home tour to find the infamous Pink Door. A few of us thought it was pretty neat and a few said “that’s it” haha. I would recommend visiting and snapping a few photos in front of it, the homes in the neighborhood are so cute so it was worth the short drive over.
Shop – Sadly our shopping was a “miss” with the exception of a few (very expensive) vintage clothing stores in the downtown area of Palm Springs… on my next trip back, I’ll plan a little better and shop outside of the city for some fun vintage decor!
Snap – If you’re a photographer looking for a fun location, a few of us headed out to the Coachella Valley and snapped some fun practice headshots and maternity shots. We had a blast on our adventure, including almost needing to hitchhike home because we got the car stuck in some deep sand (oops, haha) be sure to stop by my friend, Jolene’s page and check out her work!
Pack – I packed just enough to get by! The only thing I forgot to toss in the suitcase was cute PJ’s so had to sleep in my yoga clothes =) See links to what was in my suitcase below!
