I’m heading out to Palm Springs this weekend for 5 days for a photography retreat with some of my favorite photography friends. I’m so excited but with the mood swings that SoCal weather has been having, I’m finding it so difficult to pack. When I think of Palm Springs, I think of color and mod-architecture, Palm Trees and bougainvillea lined streets, sunshine and cacti, so much cacti… I don’t think of 40 degree temps at night and chilly pools and possible snow capped mountains. Needless to say, I’ll be packing layers!
When I initially started thinking about this trip, I thought I would go very colorful in my wardrobe choices but then I started to gravitate towards more neutral pieces with modern vibes so I ran with it. I’m sticking with blacks, whites and desert tones. Partly because I know every other photographer at our retreat will probably be super colorful and also because I know I’ll feel more comfortable if I stick with my true style. Also, sustainability… I don’t own a ton of super colorful items so I would’ve needed to do a ton of shopping and I probably wouldn’t have worn many of the items again. Here’s a few of my top colorful picks if I had gone that route…
I bringing a few dresses for the day time that I can layer with a sweater, a pair of jeans and button up and of course a few swimsuits in hopes that the sun will come out and I get a little pool time in! I’m pretty excited about the wide leg white pants I picked up from Heidi Merrick’s sale last week to wear for the party night at our photography retreat… it also happens to fall on my birthday so I’m extra excited!
The fun starts on Friday with a mom brunch reunion before road tripping out to Palm Springs. I’m so ready for a little R&R , time away from the kiddos and to fuel my creative soul with all the mid century modern goodness!
