If you aren’t familiar with a 10X10 Challenge, basically, you chose 10 pieces, including shoes, from your current closet and then you wear them and only those pieces for 10 days! It’s essentially a “mini capsule wardrobe” so you aren’t committing to a complete capsule wardrobe but get a taste of it! I love that I don’t have to part with anything for these challenges, if I want to break the rules and reach for something, I’ve learned that’s totally okay!
With this being my third 10X10 Challenge, I already had an idea of planning and the flow of the challenge. The first challenge I did, I stuck with neutrals and safe bets. The second challenge I decided to spice it up and grab for pieces I didn’t wear often or that would be more flashy. This time around, I knew I wanted to go with a few basic one pieces and make them work for multiple days. I had some practice with this recently when I made a trip to Texas. I packed two dresses and two jumpsuits. I forced myself to make those four pieces work for 7 days by changing out accessories and hair styles. Somehow, I managed!
This challenge was tough mainly because of the warmer than usual weather. It has been so hotttttt in San Diego and I really struggled with what to include. It was also incredibly humid which is very rare for SD. It made me really think about where I was going to be and what activities I’d be doing in those places… No one wants to be the sweaty mess among their friends.
Lately, I haven’t been vibe-ing with any of my shorts so decided not to include any in this summer 10X10 Challenge but had to add one pair because of the weather. I made the choice to stick with dresses and jumpsuits but gave myself a few “mix n match” pieces so as not to have to be so repetitive. I must say… I’ve typically obsessed and loved these challenges but this one was so hard to complete which I think was mostly due to the weather. I really lost motivation around day 7 but pushed through!
10X10 CHALLENGE OUTFIT DETAILS
–My 10 Pieces for the challenge –
–DAY 1 – I kept it simple on day one with my new favorite white romper and my tan sandals.
–DAY 2 – Fell on a Saturday, we grabbed brunch with my mom before dropping her off at the airport! I wore my white button front dress and it was perfect for the heat! I paired it with my blue slides since I hadn’t worn them in a while!
–DAY 3 -Fell on a Sunday and we decided to stay lazy and stay home… I met up with a friend for coffee and wore this white silk top and these black jeans!
–DAY 4 – Monday was a beach day so I did wear my white linen dress, paired with my tan sandals to keep it simple!
–DAY 5 -I had a shoot with Hatched Collective, to show off their brand new Creative MarketPlace! I wore my new block print Doen dress and tan sandals! I also picked up this round beach tote from the marketplace and can’t get enough of it lately!
–DAY 6 -Repeated the white Ozma jumpsuit to grab some groceries in and sported my blue slides but because it was crazy hot, I promptly changed into athletic clothes when I got home!
–DAY 7 -Linen white mini dress and tan sandals for the win! I met up with a friend for a working coffee date and some air conditioning… If I recall correctly, this was the hottest day of the whole challenge and I was very thankful I included a spaghetti strap linen mini dress that breathes with the slightest breeze!
–DAY 8 -Friday means a beach day so the linen mini dress and tan sandals were on serious repeat! Again (3rd times a charm right!)
–DAY 9 – I had a grand opening event so wore the white Jumpsuit with blue slides so I was sure to stay cool and casual but still felt dressy enough for the event.
–DAY 10 – The last day! I wore these shorts with this white top and my tan sandals for a few errands!
I didn’t end up wearing my black jumpsuit or my white mexican dress for the challenge because it was so hot that I had to repeat the white linen mini dress 3 times in a row where as in previous challenges, I would have made sure I wore all 10 pieces! Maybe next time I’ll do an 8X10 challenge!
That completes the summer 10×10 challenge! Like I said, I think the heat and humidity during the challenge threw me off my game. I try hard to only change once but because I was worried about sweating too much, I ended up changing into work out clothes or pajamas almost every day before cooking dinner. If I do another summer 10×10, I think I’ll pick up a few pairs of shorts that I really love before starting the challenge! =)
