I’ve always struggled with finding a great fit for a workout program after having the twins. Before babes, I’d lift and go to yoga almost daily. It was part of my life and an important part of how I structured my day, it was a true “lifestyle”. Struggling to find the balance of motherhood and fitness isn’t always easy and the older the babes get, the harder it’s becoming to just throw them in the stroller and go for 2-3 hour walks. I’ve tried to do the at home thing, holding myself accountable… working out with other mama friends and we recently signed up for the Y which has been amazing too but I’m always on the hunt for a new workout to spice up the routine and I think I may have found a great option, CURVES ®!
Last week I had the opportunity to join a bunch of other blogger babes and mamas at Curves® to test out their workout program and see how it could fit into my busy life. We rotated through an entire “class” and by the end of it, we were all a little sweaty and feeling great! The true test of any workout is always how you feel the next day and let me tell you, I was definitely feeling it the next day (in a great way)! What I loved about the experience was that 1.) it was all women… from all walks of life, doing their own thing but all together! 2.) it’s at your own pace, you push as hard as you need to but because the machines are set up the way they are, it’s still a challenge! And 3.) the coaches and energy there was so wonderful… they went around and instructed us on how to properly do the equipment and then helped us in between for the active resting stations.
So if you’ve been looking for a great workout that you can do on your own time and at your own pace, but still need the push of a trainer or coach, curves official is the place to be… And they’re philosophy of “No Makeup, No Mirrors, No Men” makes you feel welcome regardless of whether you just woke up, you’re covered in spit up, just got off your 9-5 or are dressed to the nines in your best workout gear.
My experience was great and I can see how this program could really fit into my lifestyle. The cycle is 45 minutes and you can come at anytime and start on your own. The coaches are there to guide you every step of the way and the music plays continuously. You change stations as the music says too so it’s super easy to hop in and out as you need a break. The complete circle is 45 minutes so perfect for popping in during lunch time or right after you drop the kids off at school. A great workout, a great place, and short enough that you don’t feel like you’ve wasted the entire day at the gym… win win in my book!
