As a twin mom, uncertain if I’m having any more children, I often shed a tear when a milestone comes and goes. This is definitely the case as I bid farewell to tandem baby wearing. I have tandem wore these two little monkeys for nearly two years, on countless grocery trips, several hikes and through airports all over. I will forever cherish feeling both babes next to me while we explored the world and conquered one airline at a time together.
Sadly, this chapter has to come to a close because my body simply can’t hang with these two growing babes. Easton is teetering near 25lbs and Ev is sitting pretty at 22lbs so when tandem wearing, that’s almost 50lbs hanging on my shoulders and resting on my hips. I wish I had beefed up a little in anticipation for these two growing so fast, maybe we could’ve extended our tandem baby wearing days a bit longer.
Thankfully, baby wearing is still alive and thriving in our house, just as a single adventure… Ev often says up and will bring me the carrier, even when we’re just hanging out at the house. I love that she wants to be that close to me and is so comfortable in her carrier. Easton loves to be in the carrier too but never asks for it because he’s too busy exploring dirt or throwing rocks (such a boy).
To honor saying goodbye to this sweet milestone, I asked my friend, fellow mama and talented photographer, Jolene of Facets Photography, to snap a few pictures of us to remember the last time. She snapped some of the sweetest moments we’ve had together in a while. I can’t believe I won’t be wearing these two together anymore.
A little over a year has gone by since I wrote this post on Tandem Baby Wearing and shared a “how-to” video, and just look at how much these tiny little babes have grown. Wow!
