They say, you can take the girl out of Texas but you can’t take the Texas out of the girl. While I’ve adapted to Southern California and left the Texas heat behind, my southern roots still run deep. George straight is a nightly staple in our house and two stepping through the living room with Easton is a favorite past time of mine. Place a Texas sized steak in front of me and I’ll devour it. Oh and there’s my slight obsession with Bluebell Ice cream… these Californians have no idea what Homemade Vanilla truly tastes like.

I’ve been loving all the western wear trends I’ve been seeing lately. It’s brings a subtle nod to home and I’m really loving the Urban Cowboy fringe vibes. Give me all the fringe!

I spotted this Doen dress on Poshmark and I couldn’t resist the fringe (it’s no longer available to shop but I linked up a few other basic black dresses at the bottom of the post), I scooped it up so fast and have been wearing it a ton since it arrived. It pairs so perfectly with these ankle booties! I love the split at the ankle on these too. While they’re not traditional cowboy boots, I think they have just the right amount of ‘wild west’ to them.

I tread lightly with trends as some seem to go out as fast as they come in but a classic piece with a touch of trendy nods will stand the test of time. I’ve linked up a few accessory items above that can be so versatile and add the perfect touch of wild west and a few of my favorite nods to cowboy boots below.

I love infusing a bit of my roots into an outfit. We’re headed back to Texas in April and I know I’ll be packing along this exact get up. And maybe I’ll even pull out a cowboy hat =) Southern California may have my heart but Texas will always be home!
